The country's top female striker Park Eun-sun is a candidate for FIFA World Player of the Year.

Soccer's world governing body on Thursday announced its list of 24 women candidates for the honor.

Park last year helped the women's team win its first game in a global tournament at the FIFA Under 19 Women's World Championship in Thailand.

In July, she also led the team to its first victory over China in 15 years in the East Asian Football Federation Championship.

FIFA also nominated North Korea's Ho Sun-hui, who was named most valuable player of the championship.
