Former national soccer coach Jo Bonfrere has hit successor Dick Advocaat for implying Bonfrere is an inferior leader.
In an interview with the Dutch soccer magazine Voetbal International Thursday, Bonfrere blasted Advocaat for saying before arriving in Seoul that he would become a second Guus Hiddink instead of a second Bonfrere.
Bonfrere also said he and not Advocaat found new talent for the national team, adding he replaced most of the 2002 World Cup squad because of their advanced years and falling performance.
By infusing new blood, Bonfrere said the team defeated Kuwait to qualify for the World Cup next year.
He also took shots at the Korea Football Association's technical committee, saying it demanded a roster two weeks before games and excluded "unwanted" players instead of letting the coach decide.
Before last year's friendly versus Germany, Bonfrere said he told KFA President Chung Mong-joon to "go to hell" after Chung told Bonfrere to remove a certain striker from the roster.
Insisting he left on his own, Bonfrere said he could have remained coach, but resigned because the association wanted him out.
