The head of the Germany World Cup Organizing Committee on Tuesday said he expects the South Korean national soccer team to get stronger when the tournament opens next year.

Franz Beckenbauer cited to reporters the "fantastic" performances of South Korean players in Europe, saying they will help develop the country's soccer.

The soccer legend flew to Seoul for a three-day visit to promote Germany's preparation for the tournament.

On whether promising talent Park Chu-young could transfer to a German team, Beckenbauer said he has instructed his staff to look into the issue.

Beckenbauer and Korea Football Association President Chung Mong-joon will discuss holding a friendly match between South Korea and Germany before the World Cup.
