Roh Invites IOC President to S. Korea

President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacque Rogge will visit South Korea Monday at the invitation of President Roh Moo-hyun.

Rogge is slated to attend a dinner at the presidential office on the same day to discuss how to set the tone for reconciliation in inter-Korean relations through sports exchanges.

Earlier in July, Roh delivered a letter through Korean Olympic Committee chief Kim Jeong-gil to the IOC general assembly in Singapore.

The letter called for the body’s cooperation to keep the nation’s martial art, taekwondo, as an official event of the 2012 Summer Olympics, and to help Pyeongchang host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
