North Korea's under 17 soccer team on Friday advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIFA world championship in Peru.
Through the 1-1 draw, the North made the final eight again at the expense of Italy, which it beat in the 1966 World Cup to do the same.
The North has little time to celebrate as it will face Monday defending champion Brazil.
The North and Italy both finished with a win, loss and tie but the North went through thanks to its higher goal differential.
Kim Kuk-jin scored in the 22nd minute to give the North an early lead. The North did most of the attacking but kept a firm defense throughout the game.
Simone Palermo tied the game for Italy in the 92nd minute, but it was too little too late.
Kim later received a second yellow card and was ejected in the 72nd minute, but his team held on.
