North Korea on Friday seeks to repeat history against Italy in the world under 17 soccer championships.
In Trujillo, Peru, the North can advance to the quarterfinals with a tie or win against the Italians.
The North and Italy are tied in Group C with a win and loss each, but the North has the higher goal differential.
Italy is still haunted by its shocking 1966 World Cup defeat to the North, in which Pak Do-ik's goal eliminated the Italians from the competition, 1-0.
The North will rely on its promising striker Choe Myong-ho, who is tied for the tournament scoring lead with three goals. The "Korean Ronaldo" scored one in the North's 3-2 loss to the United States and two in a 3-0 win over Cote d'Ivoire.
FIFA.com said the North's striker trio of Pak Chol-min, Ri Hung-ryong and Choe has exceptional speed, first-rate technical ability and an uncanny sense of finding each other.
Italy will play without striker Salvatore Foti because of his red card in his team's 3-1 loss to the United States. FIFA could also punish forward Christian Tiboni and Italy Coach Francesco Rocca for their behavior in the game.
