North Korea could make soccer history again Friday against Italy in the FIFA U-17 World Championships.

In Peru Tuesday, the North's rising star Choe Myong-ho scored two goals in his team's 3-0 victory over Cote d'Ivoire, and a win or tie against Italy in their final Group C game will clinch a quarterfinals berth.

In one of the biggest upsets in sports history, the North beat Italy, 1-0, in the 1966 World Cup to advance to the quarterfinals.

Dubbed the "Korean Ronaldo," Choe scored on a penalty in the ninth minute and added another in the 38th minute against the Africans. Kim Kyong-il scored the final goal six minutes later.

Choe is tied with Carlos Vela of Mexico as the tournament's leading scorer with three goals.
