Assistant soccer coach Afshin Ghotbi is little known in the country, but his tactical analyses were instrumental in the national team's 2002 World Cup miracle run.

Ghotbi will return to South Korea as technical advisor under national coach Dick Advocaat, having served under Guus Hiddink in 2002.

Ghotbi says his analyses of opponents greatly helped the 2002 World Cup campaign, adding his tactical models of all teams in South Korea's group gave the team a huge advantage.

The Iranian-American has worked as technical advisor to the Suwon Samsung Bluewings and as assistant coach with the Los Angeles Galaxy of the U.S. Major League Soccer.
