The national baseball team on Saturday will play host Netherlands in the semifinals of the 36th Baseball World Cup.
South Korea on Wednesday beat Japan, 5-1, in the quarterfinal at Eindhoven Baseball Stadium thanks to superb pitching by Choe Dae-seong and a homer by Kim Sang-hyun.
The victory snapped the team's five-game losing streak to Japan. South Korea last beat Japan, 9-0, in the 2002 Busan Asiad.
The semifinal berth is the South Korea's first since the 1998 Baseball World Cup in Italy.
