Soccer officials, media and fans in United Arab Emirates are furious over the abrupt departure of their former coach Dick Advocaat.

Gulfnews.com on Wednesday said the Dutchman held secret negotiations with the Korea Football Association without notifying the UAE's soccer body of the talks nor his departure.

The report said that upon hearing of Advocaat's jump to South Korea, the UAE soccer body tried calling him on his cell phone but he did not answer.

The Dutch coach received his August salary of 87,500 dollars and left, part of his one-year deal worth 1,050,000 dollars.

Surprisingly, Advocaat's contract had no penalty clauses in case he wanted to leave, with a UAE soccer official saying the coach broke a gentleman's agreement to renew his contract and stay in Dubai.
