Advocaat to Coach Nat'l Soccer Team

The Korea Football Association on Tuesday confirmed Dick Advocaat will coach the national soccer team.

The 58-year-old Dutchman resigned Saturday as head coach of the United Arab Emirates and signed a contract with the KFA Monday.

Advocaat will arrive in Seoul on September 29th and bring Pim Verbeek, former assistant to former national coach Guus Hiddink during the 2002 World Cup.

They will hold a news conference a day after arrival and begin training for a friendly match with Iran on October 12th.

Advocaat is a two-time Netherlands coach who led his Dutch team to the quarterfinals of the 1994 World Cup and the semifinals of last year's European Championships.

He is the third Dutchman to lead the team following Hiddink and the recently-departed Jo Bonfrere.
