North Korea will host next year its first international golf tournament at a course under construction near Mount Geumgang.

Lee Jung-myung, chairman of the Emerson Pacific Group, on Monday said the second Emerson Pacific Group Open will open in October next year.

The firm began construction of an 18-hole course last year and expects completion by July.

Lee said he will invite to the tournament former and incumbent heads of state who worked to bring lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The invitees will include North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, ex-South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
