The Korea Football Association has selected seven foreign candidates to fill the vacant job of national team coach.
The association's technical committee on Friday said a morning meeting on replacing the departed Jo Bonfrere decided to exclude domestic candidates.
The committee considered 31 candidates for the shortlist, including 21 foreigners and ten nationals, and is expected to name a coach within this month.
The soccer site Goal.com said the shortlist probably includes Busan I'Park Coach Ian Porterfield, ex-Japan Coach Phillippe Troussier, ex-Germany coaches Berti Vogts and Rudi Voeller, ex-South Korea assistant in 2002 Pim Verbeek, ex-England Coach Bobby Robson and ex-Argentina Coach Marco Biesla.
The site said Porterfield is the frontrunner given his overseas experience, familiarity with South Korea and success with his K-League team.
