Israeli-Palestinian Team Arrives for Tourney

A joint Israeli and Palestinian soccer team arrived Wednesday to compete in the first Suwon Cup International Youth Club Soccer Championships just south of the capital.

The team is an affiliate of the Peres Center for Peace founded by former Israeli Foreign Minister and Nobel laureate Shimon Peres.

Comprising Palestinian and Israeli youngsters and college students, the team has drawn global attention similar to that given to joint squads between the two Koreas.

The 16-member team will play two friendly matches Thursday and Friday against teams from six countries.
