Nation Joins Int'l Nuke Energy Convention

The country has joined an international convention on Generation IV Nuclear Energy Systems.

The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said it submitted an entry form to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Seoul will thus join international efforts to develop innovative systems to generate nuclear power for a cost-efficient and stable energy supply.

The Science and Technology Ministry and the Science and Technology Foundation will take charge of the project's implementation.

The Generation IV International Forum was established in January 2000 as a research and development consortium comprising eleven members, including the United States, Japan and France.
