The Korea Football Association is likely to make a decision Tuesday on the fate of embattled national soccer coach Jo Bonfrere.
The association’s technical committee convened Tuesday to discuss the team's past performance and whether to replace the current coach.
Calls for the Dutchman's ouster increased dramatically after the national team's 1-0 loss to Saudi Arabia in their final World Cup qualifier in Seoul Wednesday.
Fans bad-mouthed the coach after the team's first loss to the Saudis in March, but their anger grew after a last-place finish in the East Asia Football Championship earlier this month.
Critics have blasted the team's poor finishing and lack of drive and coordination, adding that Bonfrere has tried to shift the blame onto the players or bad luck.
Meanwhile, Bonfrere made clear on Sunday that he has no intention to step down, saying he will accept all the criticisms against him and requesting more time in training the national team.
