Tottenham Hotspurs Coach Martin Jol on Friday said in an interview that he wants to sign wingback Lee Young-pyo.
Reports say the English Premier League team has asked Lee's team PSV Eindhoven to respond to its transfer offer by the end of the week.
The British daily Daily Mirror on Friday said Tottenham could pay up to five million pounds for the defender, more than Manchester United paid for midfielder Park Ji-sung.
Lee has a year remaining on his contract with the Dutch champion but wants to move to England.
After a World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia in Seoul Wednesday, Lee said he will soon announce his future plans.
His agent earlier this week said the Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham are both seeking to sign the versatile defender.
PSV Coach Guus Hiddink has agreed to Lee's transfer, saying the team should allow him to embrace a new challenge.
