The Korea Football Association is expected to decide Tuesday the fate of maligned national coach Jo Bonfrere.
An association official on Friday told Yonhap News Agency that the KFA technical committee will discuss the team's past performance and a possible coaching change.
Pressure on Bonfrere increased exponentially after the team's 1-0 home loss Wednesday to Saudi Arabia in their final World Cup qualifier.
Fans steamed at the coach after the team's first loss to the Saudis in March, but their anger grew worse after a last-place finish in the East Asia Football Championship earlier this month.
Sports dailies have devoted large column space calling for Bonfrere's ouster, with other newspapers even listing possible candidates to replace him.
Critics have blasted the team's poor finishing and lack of drive and coordination, adding Bonfrere has tried to shift the blame onto the players or bad luck.
