Pitcher Park Wins 1st for San Diego

Park Chan-ho on Tuesday won his first game as a San Diego Padre.

In San Diego's PETCO Park, Park struck out a season-high eight in his home debut as the Padres beat the New York Mets and their ace pitcher Pedro Martinez, 8-3.

Park allowed two runs and six hits in five and two thirds innings with a walk.

He got a no-decision in his first start for the Padres last week, lasting just four and a third innings in a 9-8 loss at Pittsburgh.

San Diego, the leader in the National League West, won its fifth straight game.

Traded to the Padres from the Texas Rangers for Phil Nevin on July 29, Park is 9-5.
