A team of doctors has developed the world's first bloodless surgical method for stomach cancer operations.

Led by professor Noh Seong-hoon at Severance Hospital, the team on Tuesday said the procedure uses an electric cauterant for searing blood vessels to minimize bleeding instead of a surgical knife.

The new method leaves smaller scars, shortens surgery time and quickens recovery.
