Bug-Proof Communication System Developed

A domestic research team has developed the world's third quantum-based encryption communication system.

The team led by professor Moon Seong-wook of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology on Monday said the fiber-optic cryptographic technology sends messages through quantum signals.

The technology blocks wiretapping by preventing communicating parties from receiving messages if eavesdroppers intercept the signals.

The institute will supply the technology to agencies or institutions requiring high security such as military and banks from next year.

The country is the third to develop such technology after the United States and Switzerland.
