'Dolly' clone researchers to discuss projects in S. Korea

British scientist Keith Campbell, the researcher who created the cloned sheep 'Dolly' in 1997, will visit South Korea this month to discuss joint research projects, according to British officials on Saturday.

From Aug. 15 to 25, Campbell will take a tour of South Korean research facilities, including the laboratory of famed stem-cell scientist Hwang Woo-suk, who stunned the world in 2004 by the first successful cloning of a human embryonic stem cell.

Campbell's visit follows that of Ian Wilmut from Roslin Institute in Scotland, another researcher who was involved in the creation of Dolly. Wilmut visited Korea on Wednesday to meet with Hwang.

In another breakthrough, Hwang announced Thursday that his team had successfully cloned a dog.
