South Korea secured a 1-0 victory over North Korea in an East Asian Football Federation Women’s Cup match held in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province Thursday. The South’s victory was the team's first over the North in 15 years.

Second-half substitute Park Eun-jung scored the decisive goal in the 81st minute, moving the squad one step closer to the tournament title. The South Korean women currently have two wins, one each against the North and China, and will play Japan on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in the East Asian Football Championship also held in Jeonju, the South Korean men's team were held to a scoreless draw by North Korea in their first encounter in 12 years.

WIth less than a year to go before the 2006 World Cup, Thursday’s draw, combined with Sunday's 1-1 tie against China, have raised questions about South Korea's readiness.
