Hwang's Next Task Attracting Interest

The next task of stem cell pioneer Hwang Woo-suk is attracting interest after his historic cloning of a dog.

In a news conference Wednesday in Seoul, the Seoul National University professor said he will focus his future research on monkey stem cells but will not attempt to clone a monkey.

Experts predict, however, additional research to raise the success of cloning dogs and other species.

Speculation is also rising over the recent visits to Seoul by Gerald Schatten, a reproductive biologist at the University of Pittsburgh, and Ian Wilmut, creator of the world's first cloned sheep "Dolly.

The two are believed to be conducting specific research with Hwang's research team in Seoul.
