Park Ji-sung of Manchester United is a candidate to receive the best striker award of UEFA, the European federation of soccer associations.

UEFA on Thursday announced the nominees for its UEFA Club Football Awards.

Park will compete against Ronaldinho of FC Barcelona and 1999 winner Andriy Shevchenko of AC Milan.

The awards single out the best players of European teams in each of four categories: best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and striker.

All nominees are automatically entered for the Most Valuable Player award.

The award ceremony will open August 25th at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
