A renowned U.S. scientist arrived in South Korea Monday to conduct a joint stem cell study with local cloning pioneer, Hwang Woo-suk.

During his seven-day stay, Gerald Schatten, a reproductive biologist at the University of Pittsburgh, plans to conduct various experiments at Seoul National University with a research team led by Professor Hwang.

Professor Ian Wilmut of the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, the creator of the world's first cloned sheep, "Dolly," will also join the study from Wednesday.
