The Foreign Ministry will appoint an ambassador to support the embryonic research of stem cell pioneer Hwang Woo-suk.

Sources on Monday said Chung Hae-wook, an economy and trade research officer, will support biotechnology research as part of its efforts to help the Seoul National University professor.

Chung will mainly assist Hwang in the scientist's overseas activities.
