The Science and Technology Ministry on Tuesday said a research team has developed new nanotechnology for producing stronger and more elastic material resistant to abrasion.

Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology professor Hong Soon-hyeong and his team have dramatically improved technology for the manufacture of nano-materials using carbon nanotubes.

Leading science journal Advanced Materials published the study in its June issue.

The team will apply for domestic and international patents, including in the United States and Japan.
