Lyon Advances to Peace Cup Finals

Olympique Lyon of France has advanced to the finals of the Peace Cup tournament with a 1-1 draw with PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands.

The French team came in a three-way tie in Group A with PSV and Once Caldas of Columbia, but advanced because it had the highest goal differential.

In the Wednesday match at Suwon World Cup stadium, Robert de Pinho de Souza gave PSV the lead in the 37th minute on an assist from South Korean teammate Lee Young-pyo.

But Lyon's Florent Maluouda booted home the equalizer in the 47th minute, and no further scoring occurred.

On Thursday, Boca Juniors of Argentina will play Sundowns FC of South Africa, while Real Sociedad of Spain take on Tottenham of England to decide the other finalist from Group B.

The tournament champ will receive two million dollars.
