A research team has developed a flexible solar cell that it claims is the most efficient in the world.

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute on Wednesday said it created a dye-sensitized solar cell that generates 4.8 milliwatts per square centimeter, twice that of cells from Japan and Germany.

Flexible enough to bend in any direction, the product is set for use in next generation mobile phones and personal computers that are designed for wear.

The global market for solar cells is estimated to reach ten billion dollars by 2010.
