Koreas to Hold August 15 Soccer Match

The two Koreas will hold a soccer match as part of August 15th Liberation Day celebrations.

North Korea had notified the Unification Ministry Tuesday that it would send players from its national men's and women's soccer team to Seoul for the event.

Pyongyang also proposed holding a working-level meeting of the two countries' soccer officials in the North's border town of Gaesong next Tuesday.

Unification Minister Chung Dong-young proposed the soccer game to North Korea through Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jung-eun, who visited the North last week. North Korean leader Kim Jong-il agreed to hold the sports event during talks with Hyun.
