KIST Robot Places 2nd in RoboCup

A rescue robot developed by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology won second place in the rescue robot league of RoboCup 2005 in Osaka, Japan.

Roscue lost out only to Toin Pelican developed by Toin University of Yokohama, Japan, in rescue strategy in simulated disasters such as an earthquake.

The KIST robot was praised for its balanced mobility and accurate recognition of circumstances in disaster situations.

The International RoboCup Federation's competition saw 419 teams from 35 countries compete in ten events including soccer.

The tournament is an international joint project to promote artificial intelligence, robotics and related fields.
