South Korea will host the largest conference of world sports leaders next April.

Seoul authorities Monday inked an agreement on hosting the fourth SportAccord from April 3 to 7 in the South Korean capital.

The accord was signed by Culture and Tourism Minister Chung Dong-chae, SportAccord Chairman Hein Verbruggen, and President of the World Taekwondo Federation Choue Chungwon.

After the signing ceremony, Minister Chung anticipated that the agreement would boost international recognition of Korean sports.

Launched in 2003, SportAccord is an expanded version of the General Association of International Sports Federations, an umbrella organization of about 100 sports federations.
