PSV Beats Seongnam, 2-1, in Peace Cup

The 2005 Peace Cup invitational tournament opened Friday in Seoul with defending champion PSV Eindhoven of The Netherlands beating seven-time domestic champ Seongnam Ilwha, 2-1.

Group A teams Once Caldas of Columbia and four-time French champ Olympique Lyon played to a 1-1 draw in Busan the same night. PSV is also in the same group.

Eight teams are playing in the biennial event.

On Saturday in Group B, the North London team Tottenham Hotspurs will face the Boca Juniors of Argentina at Suwon World Cup Stadium and Sundowns FC of South Africa will play Spanish giant Real Sociedad in Daejeon.

The winners of each group will face each other in the final at Seoul World Cup Stadium for the prize of two million dollars.
