Female golfing prodigy Michelle Wie on Friday failed in her quest to enter next year's Masters men's tournament after a 5-4 loss in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur Public Links.

In Lebanon, Ohio, the 15-year-old lost four of the first five holes to Clay Ogden.

Wie won her only hole when Ogden bogeyed the tenth, but he sank a birdie to win the eleventh and clinched victory with a conceded par on the 14th.
