Park Ji-sung will make his Manchester United debut on July 23rd in a friendly match in Hong Kong.

United coach Alex Ferguson said Thursday that he will start Park on the left wing given the player's stellar performance in the Champions League competition at the position.

Ferguson also envisions Park as the team's successor to aging striker Ryan Giggs, citing the South Korean's mobility, quickness and energy.

The British tabloid Daily Star said Friday that Giggs may spend more time on the bench with Park's arrival.

Most United players will travel with the team for matches in Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo on the team's Asia tour.

Ferguson also said he will ask South Korea coach Jo Bonfrere to leave Park out of non-competitive international games.

United begins the regular season in the English Premier League against Everton on August 13th.
