Wingback Lee Young-pyo has received the blessing of PSV Eindhoven coach Guus Hiddink to seek employment with another European team.
The player's management company said Hiddink told a group dinner in Seoul Wednesday that the Dutch team will clear the way for Lee's departure.
Lee's agent Kim Dong-kuk is in The Netherlands negotiating his client's transfer with PSV and AS Monaco of France.
Lee's contract expires at the end of June next year and has a one-year option, but Kim said PSV's offer for a four-year extension fell way short of expectations.
The Dutch daily De Telegraaf said Lee's transfer is imminent after AS Monaco agreed to pay PSV a transfer fee of five million euros. PSV had rejected the French team's initial offer last month.
AS Monaco is a seven-time French league champion and was runner-up to FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League finals last year.
But Lee has expressed a desire to play in England and has diligently studied English in preparation. Four Premiership teams are also interested in signing him.
