'Pyeongchang Should Lobby at 2006 ANOC Assembly'

President Mario Vázquez Raña of the Association of National Olympics Committee (ANOC) paid a visit to President Kim Jung-gil of the Korean Olympics Committee (KOC) on Thursday.

In remarks to the press, Raña said the next ANOC general assembly would be a good opportunity for Pyeongchang to promote itself as the next Winter Olympics venue.

The fifteenth ANOC general assembly will be held from March 31st to April 7th, 2006 in Seoul.

Over one thousand people will participate in the gathering, including 600 members representing 203 National Olympics Committees.

President Jacques Rogge of the International Olympics Committee and other IOC members, as well as the organizing committees of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics, and 2014 Winter Games will take part in the event.

Because the IOC bans any kind of lobbying a year before voting for the host country, the upcoming ANOC event will be the last big promotion opportunity for Pyeongchang, which has been trying to host the 2014 winter Olympics.
