Park Ji-sung has received a British work permit and is free to play for Manchester United.

The permit was granted Monday in a hearing in Sheffield, England, with United coach Alex Ferguson attending.

The team had to appeal an initial rejection because of the British rule that a non-European Union foreigner must have played in 75 percent of his country's international matches over the past two years.

United is expected to officially introduce Park next week.

His first action on the field could come in one of the team's pre-season games on July 16th or 19th or during a four-game tour of East Asia in late July.

United opens the regular season against Everton on August 13th.
