Roh Asks IOC Head to Retain Taekwondo

President Roh Moo-hyun has sent a letter to the head of the International Olympic Committee requesting support for taekwondo's retention as an official event.

Korean Olympic Committee President Kim Jung-kil on Tuesday delivered Roh's signed letter to Jacques Rogge in Singapore.

A KOC official in Seoul said Roh in the letter also supported and thanked Rogge for playing a leading role in IOC reform, asking for his continued support to develop South Korean sports including taekwondo.

Rogge told Kim that he foresees no problems in keeping taekwondo as an Olympic sport,

The IOC will vote on whether to retain all 28 Olympic events and add any of five under consideration in its general assembly Thursday.
