The Pyeongchang committee in charge of bidding for the 2014 Winter Olympics has unveiled its official campaign emblem.

The committee on Monday said the new pattern signifies Gangwon Province’s hope for world peace, the International Olympic Committee's ideals, the province's symbol and Pyeongchang's vision.

After securing approval from the Korean Olympic Committee and IOC, the emblem will be used in the committee's lobbying efforts until the candidate cities are chosen on June 23rd next year.

If Pyeongchang is among the candidates, the committee will add five rings representing the Olympics to the emblem and use it until the IOC selects the host city in Guatemala in 2007.
