Terrestrial DMB Adopted as Standard in Europe

South Korea's terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) technology has been adopted as the standard in Europe.

The Telecommunication Technology Association announced Friday that the European Telecommunications Standards Institution had adopted most of the DMB platform as the European standard.

It is the first time for the nation’s technology to be adopted as an international standard. The association says the achievement will set an example for future efforts to have local information and telecommunication-related technologies be made global standards.

Terrestrial DMB enables people on the move to enjoy crystal-clear video, CD-quality audio and data through handheld devices, including cellular phones or in-car devices.
