The nation’s competitive power in science and technology was found to have been the biggest contributor to enhancing the nation’s overall competitiveness.

According to the 2005 yearbook on global competitiveness issued by the International Institute for Management Development, South Korea ranked 29th in national competitiveness, up six notches from last year.

South Korea finished at 15th in competitive ability in science and second in terms of technology, demonstrating that the two sectors were the main factor that drove up the nation’s ranking in overall competitiveness.
