The seasonal rain front will gain strength to cause heavy showers nationwide Tuesday and Wednesday.

With rain alerts issued for most of the Jeolla provinces and the inland of North Gyeongsang Province, the Korea Meteorological Administration predicts heavy downpours in the south Tuesday and the central region Wednesday.

Expected precipitation will range from 30 to 70 millimeters in the central region and more than 100 millimeters for parts of the southern peninsula, with torrential thunderstorms and lightning predicted for certain areas.

The public is advised to prepare for possible damage, with rainfall to continue through Thursday.
