A British daily has praised Korean soccer star Park Ji-sung as a positive role model for local players.

The Evening Standard said Park’s ceaseless efforts were behind his phenomenal success, and criticized the 'growing laziness' and 'unwillingness to learn' among some British players.

Meanwhile, an opening ceremony for the “Park Ji-sung Road” was held Monday in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province. In attendance were some 500 spectators, including Park, who recently signed with U.K. football club Manchester United, and his father.

Built in memory of Korea’s historic appearance among the final four of the 2002 World Cup, the 35-meter-wide, 1.38-kilometer-long road spans Hwangsung City, Suwon City and Youngtong road.

The city government embarked on the construction of the six-lane road back in May last year.
