The Ministry of Information and Communication and the Korean Broadcasting Commission (KBC) have agreed to set up a working-level body for consultations on a project to introduce the Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) system in the country.

Minister of Information and Communication Chin Dae-je and KBC Chairman Noh Sung-dai met Tuesday to discuss the launch of IPTV, but failed to narrow differences over the project.

Comprised of officials from KBC, the information ministry and broadcasting-related firms, the consultative body will negotiate major details on establishing the IPTV system, including the scope of trial operations and method of implementation.

IPTV is a comprehensive network video streaming solution that delivers improved and next-generation TV services to desktop PCs over existing broadband networks.
