The high quality of the nation’s engineering education is attracting increasing global recognition.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, South Korea became an associate member of the Washington Accord along with Taiwan at a June 15th annual meeting in Hong Kong attended by 25 nations.

The Washington Accord provides a mechanism for mutual recognition between signatory bodies of engineering education accreditation processes.

Full-fledged signatories to the accord are guaranteed equal overseas recognition of domestically accredited majors or programs.

Associate members of the agreement qualify for full-fledged status after two years.
