KOC Group to Lobby for Taekwondo

The Korean Olympic Committee will send a lobbying delegation abroad to ensure taekwondo remains an official event of the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee will convene a general assembly on July 6th in Singapore and vote whether to keep all 28 official events and add any of five under consideration.

A delegation led by KOC President Kim Jeong-gil will embark Wednesday on a two-week trip to 15 countries including the United States, Finland and Mexico.

Delegates will meet IOC members and the head of the National Olympic Committee to convince them to keep taekwondo as an Olympic sport.
