Stem Cell Summit Opens in Houston

A stem cell summit opened Saturday in the United States, gathering global scientists and experts to share their experiences and discuss boosting research.

At the "Stem Cell Policy and Advocacy Summit" in Houston, Texas, cloning pioneer Hwang Woo-suk gave a briefing on his recent breakthroughs, stressing that stem cell study can help fight incurable diseases.

Hwang also said synthetically cultivated embryos have no chance of becoming human.

After the summit, the host Genetics Policy Institute presented Hwang with its "Global Achievement Award" in recognition of his recent achievements in stem cell research.
