Global sports organizations are banding together ahead of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s vote on future Olympic events in Singapore next month.
The Association of Summer Olympics Federation (ASOIF), which represents 28 sports from the Summer Games, held a special session in Geneva on Thursday. During the session, the sports body unanimously decided to petition IOC members not to drop any of the current events.
The World Taekwondo Federation, an ASOIF member, lent its support to the unanimous decision.
The ASOIF says it won't oppose the outcome of the IOC vote, but has hinted strongly that it believes the committee members will not make the mistake of changing the current Olympic event lineup.
